Week 9 - Workshops

Workshop 1: What am I doooing? An abstract is a condensing of what you’ve already said OR The first step and then the last step. Two modes of editing: additive or subtractive. Do a lot and then cut it down OR do a bare bones and then add to it. Painting is additive and sculpting is subtractive. 1. Motivation Why are you doing this? What have you observed and what are you gonna do about it. 2. Problem Statement What is the exact problem? Are traffic problems caused by the vehicles or the width of the the road or the people on it? A micro-interaction that could change the tide. 3. The Approach How are you going to do it? VCD is so big, you could do anything. An app, poster, interaction, user experience, a simulation, a prototype, an installation, social communication, a space. Can be big or small and specific. 4. Results What do you think the results are gonna be? Validating your explorations will help you get to the next step. What will the results of your thing be? What are pe...

Week 8: One on One with Kerry Ann

I had a talk with Kerry Ann (alongside a couple of other students). The main take aways from it were: What's the story? Kerry Ann was more concerned with the story than Caroline was. She pointed out that the story can add to the theme of the project. Is the story breaking or using stereotypical tropes of fantasy stories? Within the story, how are the characters functioning. Why are they there Honours in about sythesizing your research, not going so far as innovation of the topic. What are you doing to show what others aren't seeing, below the surface of the topic? What are the other topics just around yours that you are shining a light on?
